Steve Harris wants to bring back a classic track to the setlist for Iron Maiden’s “Run for Your Lives” 50th anniversary tour. The band’s founding bassist revealed that the 1988 single hasn’t been played since 2019. It ranks as the 11th most-played song in the band’s history.
“I like them all! It’s hard to pick one,” Harris said. He mentioned that songs like “The Evil That Men Do” are not currently in the setlist, but he would love to play them. However, despite discussing various options, they haven’t included those tracks in the current tour.
The song is from the “Seventh Son of a Seventh Son” album. For this tour, the band chose to feature the 10-minute title track and “The Clairvoyant” instead.
Harris, who started the band in 1975 and is their main songwriter, understands the challenge of selecting songs from their extensive catalog. “It’s difficult to do a set from any part of our career without missing things out,” he said. “It’s a nice problem to have, I suppose.”
The “Run for Your Lives” tour began last May and has already seen the return of some rare tracks. Songs that hadn’t been played live in years, like “” and “,” made a comeback after last being performed in 1999 and 2005, respectively. “Rime of the Ancient Mariner” also returned after its last performance in 2009.
The tour will continue in May, with shows across Europe until July. It will wrap up with a performance at Knebworth House in the UK before heading to North, Central, and South America from August to November. Two shows in Brazil are set for October 25 and 27 at Allianz Parque in São Paulo, with the first date already sold out, leading to the addition of the second concert.
