Billy Corgan made his Coachella debut on April 11, 2026, performing with alt-pop artist sombr at the Outdoor Theatre. The two teamed up for a special rendition of the classic Smashing Pumpkins song “1979.”
Before Corgan took the stage, sombr hyped up the crowd, asking, “Coachella, is it cool if I bring some f rock royalty on the stage right now?” He encouraged the audience to cheer, reminding them it was Corgan’s first time at Coachella.
As the opening riff of “1979” kicked in, Corgan joined sombr, throwing up double metal horns. Although he faced some microphone issues at the start, they were quickly resolved. Corgan sang along and played his guitar, creating an unforgettable moment for fans.
Looking ahead, Corgan will headline Lollapalooza 2026 with The Smashing Pumpkins, set to take place from July 30 to August 2 in his hometown of Chicago.
