Jutes contemplates ‘younger me feeling invisible’ in his latest single, ‘Icarus’

Jutes is back with a new single called “Icarus,” where he reflects on feeling invisible in his younger years. He shares, “I was just, like, so hungry to be noticed,” and the song touches on those past emotions. At that time, Jutes romanticized the idea of the “broken artist” and believed that using substances was essential for his creativity. He admits, “It also felt like a way of not needing to get better, because I thought it was, like, fuel.”

Now sober, Jutes has completely changed his perspective. “I’ve found now that I write the best songs of my life and I’m in the best place in my life, and I’m sober,” he says. He emphasizes the importance of his health and his desire to live a long life for his wife and future family.

“Icarus” follows his March release, “Disassociate,” and his song “It Takes Two” is currently climbing the Billboard Alternative Airplay chart. He describes “It Takes Two” as a song about needing someone so much that life feels pointless without them. Jutes notes that fans often connect with his most emotional or passionate songs, which he finds amusing.

Exciting news for fans: Jutes will kick off a U.S. headlining tour in August.
