Scott Phillips, the drummer for Creed and Alter Bridge, recently took part in Drumeo’s “For the First Time” challenge on YouTube. In this series, drummers create their own parts for songs they’ve never heard before, using a drumless version of the track. For this challenge, Phillips played A Day to Remember’s song “The Downfall of Us All.” After several takes, he shared his final performance without knowing the original artist or hearing the full song with drums.
“I hope you guys enjoyed it, hope I didn’t mess it up too bad,” Phillips said after his playthrough. A Day to Remember’s drummer, Alex Shelnutt, praised Phillips’ interpretation of the song. Currently, Phillips is on tour with Alter Bridge to promote their new self-titled album and will be hitting the road with Creed in July.
