Dave Grohl has revealed that he does vocal warm-ups before shows, despite previously joking about his alcohol-fueled routine. The Foo Fighters frontman once shared on a podcast that he didn’t do any warm-ups and preferred to drink beers and whiskey before performing. He even mentioned that his doctor told him not to change his routine since it was working for him.
However, during a recent show in New York City, Grohl clarified that he actually takes care of his voice. “I know I make it seem like I don’t do vocal warm-ups,” he said. “It’s all a lie.” He admitted to doing extensive warm-ups every night to protect his voice while performing.
Fans can hear the results of his vocal care when the Foo Fighters kick off their North American stadium tour in August, supporting their new album, Your Favorite Toy. They also have an intimate show scheduled in Sayreville, New Jersey, this Saturday, and will headline the Welcome to Rockville and BottleRock Napa festivals later in May.
