Iron Maiden legend Nicko McBrain is giving fans a closer look at his life and career with the release of his long-awaited autobiography, Hello Boys And Girls! The veteran drummer recently shared an unboxing video ahead of the book’s October 22 release through Harper Nonfiction.

The memoir promises a candid, humorous and deeply personal look at McBrain’s extraordinary journey, from his early days as a young drummer in London to his four decades with one of heavy metal’s most influential bands.

Nicko McBrain Gives Fans a First Look at His Autobiography

McBrain’s unboxing video offers fans a glimpse of Hello Boys And Girls!, a book that captures the experiences, adventures and lessons that shaped his life.

The autobiography takes readers behind the scenes of Iron Maiden, sharing stories from the road, the recording studio and the drummer’s years performing alongside his bandmates. It also explores the highs and lows of his personal life, offering a more intimate look at the man behind the drum kit.

McBrain expressed his excitement about sharing his story with fans, describing the writing process as an opportunity to revisit the experiences that made him who he is today.

“It’s been a real honor to write my very own autobiography and have the chance to walk down memory lane,” the drummer said. He also shared his enthusiasm for bringing those stories to audiences in person.

A Career That Helped Shape Iron Maiden’s Sound

Born Michael “Nicko” McBrain in Hackney, East London, in 1952, the drummer discovered his passion for music at an early age. He initially practiced on his mother’s pots and pans before his father bought him his first drum kit when he was 11.

McBrain began playing in school bands before playing in pubs and weddings.

His career took a defining turn in 1982 when he joined Iron Maiden, replacing Clive Burr. He made his recording debut with the band on 1983’s Piece Of Mind and quickly established himself as an essential part of its sound.

Over the next 42 years, McBrain performed on 14 Iron Maiden studio albums and toured the world with the heavy metal giants. His autobiography revisits this extraordinary journey, offering readers stories from his time with the band and the experiences that shaped his life in music.

Nicko McBrain Takes His Stories on the Road

McBrain will continue celebrating Hello Boys And Girls! with a spoken-word tour that begins in Frankfurt, Germany, on October 26.

The tour will take him across Germany, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, Ireland and the United Kingdom. Rather than performing a traditional concert, McBrain will share stories from his life and career, combining personal recollections with humor and audience interaction.

The events will give fans an opportunity to hear the stories behind the memoir directly from the man who lived them.

McBrain is looking forward to reconnecting with audiences and sharing experiences from his decades in music.

“I’ve got a LOT of stories I want to tell you all!” he said.
