A retail store in Warrington lets people sip their favorite beverages while trying their hand at candle-making.
Cork and Candles, a new experiential crafts concept, has opened its doors at the Shops at Valley Square.
According to a Patch of Newtown report, the BYOB candle-making scent bar will host a grand opening event on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Attendees can watch the ribbon-cutting, enjoy mimosas, enter raffles, and sample light fare.
Newtown resident Linda Welles’s passion project is the Bucks County business.
“Two years ago, my husband and I decided to go to a franchise show in Philadelphia. That’s where I found out about Cork and Candles,” said Welles in a statement shared with the Patch. “Candles were not necessarily on my radar, but I am a creative person, and I love going out with my friends and doing fun activities with them. Cork and Candles just seemed to be the perfect fit for me.”
At Cork and Candles, customers reserve a 90-minute session to create their own candles. Participants can bring their favorite beverages from home as they browse more than 60 scents, embellishments, and wax pieces to create custom candles.
Welles noted that the candle-making experience supports both small and large group sizes. Participants can opt for a novelty candle-making class or a two-candle experience.
Customers can also choose to create one of the store’s novelty candle creations, such as a Fruit Loops bowl, or themed candles like “Spooky Halloween Graveyard” for October, according to the Patch.
Reservations and more information are available on the Cork and Candles website.
