Cold War Kids are back with a new song called “There Goes The Night.” This track isn’t entirely new; it was started during the writing of their debut album, Robbers & Cowards, but was only recently finished. It will be included in an expanded edition of Robbers & Cowards, set to release later this year to celebrate the album’s 20th anniversary.
Nathan Willett, the band’s singer and main songwriter, shared his excitement about the song. He said, “‘There Goes The Night’ is the first of four unfinished songs from the Robbers & Cowards era, and it’s one of my favorites.” He reflected on the time when the band and their friends lived together in Long Beach, capturing the essence of youth and friendship. Willett described the song as having a gospel rock vibe, similar to U2’s Rattle and Hum or The Band.
You can now find “There Goes The Night” on digital platforms. Fans may have already heard it live, as the band performed it during their current tour with Young The Giant. Their next show with Young The Giant is on Friday in St. Augustine, Florida. For a full list of tour dates, check out ColdWarKids.com.
