Faith No More will take the NOS Stage at NOS Alive on July 9, 2027, at the Passeio Marítimo de Algés near Lisbon. They are the first act announced for July 9, day two of the festival’s 19th edition.
The festival runs from July 8 to 10. This will bring the band back to Portugal after 17 years away, according to Portugal Resident.
Their last Portuguese show came in July 2010 at this same festival, then known as Optimus Alive. They headlined opening night and played for about 38,000 fans.
Two earlier comebacks never happened. The band had a slot in 2020, but the Covid-19 pandemic shut the festival down. A 2022 date came next. Then Faith No More scrapped its European tour, since Mike Patton had stepped away from touring to protect his mental health.
The group played its last live shows in 2016. Earlier this year, it said new concerts abroad were planned for 2027.
Faith No More started in San Francisco in 1979. The band mixes heavy metal, funk, hip-hop, and progressive rock. Its debut album, We Care a Lot, arrived in 1985. Introduce Yourself followed two years later.
The 1989 album The Real Thing won the band fans around the world. Patton sang on it for the first time, and it holds the single “Epic.”
Next came Angel Dust in 1992, home to “Midlife Crisis” and “A Small Victory.” Two more albums followed: King for a Day… Fool for a Lifetime in 1995 and Album of the Year in 1997. A later release gave the band “Ashes to Ashes.”
The band split in 1998. It reunited in 2009 for a tour. Sol Invictus landed in 2015. That was its first studio album in 18 years.
The current line-up is Mike Patton, Billy Gould on bass, Mike Bordin on drums, Roddy Bottum on keyboards, and Jon Hudson on guitar.
Other acts will play the 2027 festival, too. The Strokes, The Neighbourhood, and Beirut are set for July 8. Tame Impala, sombr, and Myles Smith take the stage on July 10. Tickets are on sale now. Head to the official website for more information.
