Courtney Barnett is hitting the road for a U.S. tour to promote her new album, *Creature of Habit*. The tour kicks off this Friday in Austin, Texas. This album is Barnett’s fourth studio release, and she has expressed a deeper appreciation for performing and sharing music with fans.
Barnett feels a stronger connection to both the audience and fellow musicians these days, which she thinks might be a result of the post-COVID world. During the tour, fans can expect to hear tracks from *Creature of Habit*, as well as some of her classic hits like “Pedestrian at Best” and “Depreston.”
“Depreston,” from her 2015 debut album, tells the story of house hunting with the line, “If you’ve got a spare half a million/ You could knock it down and start rebuilding.” Even after more than ten years, the frustrations of finding a home still resonate, though Barnett jokes that the song might be a bit outdated given rising housing costs. She admits that if she changed the lyrics, she might lose her focus. So, for now, fans can enjoy the original version as they sing along at her shows.
