Noel Gallagher has no time for vegetarians and vegans. He said so on an episode of Chicken Shop Date posted Friday, Oct. 23. The Oasis co-founder, 59, also said he bought a life-size cardboard cutout of actor Matthew McConaughey after the two met. Host Amelia Dimoldenberg opened by asking if he liked chicken nuggets. “Who doesn’t?” Noel Gallagher replied, according to Billboard.
Dimoldenberg pointed out that vegetarians don’t love nuggets. Gallagher said, “… those guys.” She brought up vegans next. He said, “Worse,” and added, “No stamina.”
His stance softened when Sir Paul McCartney came up. “He’s one of those rare people that when you meet them and walk away, you feel more good about yourself,” Gallagher said.
Dimoldenberg pointed out that the former Beatle looks and acts much younger than most people in their 80s. “Well, he’s vegetarian, eh?” Gallagher said. “Must be something in it.”
Then the talk turned to McConaughey. Dimoldenberg had asked if he owned any other cardboard cutouts besides the one of former Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.
“I had one of Matthew McConaughey in my front window for a while actually,” Noel Gallagher said. “I met him at a friend’s wedding. I had never met anyone like him so I bought a life sized cardboard cut out and put him in my front window for a month.”
Gallagher also answered a rumor about his stage habits. He wears two pairs of underpants onstage, he said, and the extra pair helps “stop leaks.” Asked to name the most rock-star thing about himself, he kept it short: “The fact that I am one.”
The chat also touched on the 2025 Oasis stadium tour, called Live ’25. It marked the first time Noel and his brother Liam Gallagher had played together as Oasis since the band split in 2009. Cameras captured the Live ’25 shows for the film Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger, which premiered in September at the Venice International Film Festival.
Noel knew the reunion would work after about a week of rehearsals. “It became apparent after maybe a week of rehearsals that it was going to be as good if not better than it ever was,” he said.
Oasis has announced 38 more shows across the U.K., Europe, and the U.S. in 2027. The tour starts at Celtic Park in Glasgow on May 21.
