Bob Mould is excited about the return of his band Sugar. After a long break, he and his bandmates, David Barbe and Malcolm Travis, decided to reunite. Mould recalls a breakfast meeting where he asked Barbe if he wanted to give Sugar another shot. Barbe was on board, and so was Travis.
Playing together again reminded Mould of the unique sound of Sugar. “Sugar is a very distinct approach,” he says, describing the band’s precise execution of songs. Looking back at Sugar’s original run from 1992 to 1995, Mould admits he didn’t fully appreciate it at the time. “It was a lot of work and touring,” he explains. “I didn’t understand how much it meant to other people.”
This time, Mould is focused on enjoying the experience. “The goal for me is to really enjoy this year,” he shares, contrasting it with the hard work of the past. Sugar has two upcoming shows in New York City before heading to Europe. They will return for a full U.S. tour in August. Fans can look forward to a great year ahead with Sugar!
