Ozzfest: A Retrospective on the Festival’s Lineup History 

Ozzfest kicked off its first year on October 25, 1996. The festival was started by Sharon Osbourne after Lollapalooza turned down her husband, Ozzy Osbourne, for their lineup. Ozzfest later grew into a touring festival, traveling across the United States and even making stops in Europe and Japan.
