Brian Wilson was laid to rest in a private ceremony on August 6. His daughter, Carnie, shared a touching photo of a large flower arrangement and expressed her feelings about saying goodbye to her legendary father.
In her heartfelt caption, Carnie wrote, “Today we laid my Daddy to rest. It was incredibly difficult, but it also brought some closure and a sense of peace.” She reflected on the past eight weeks, saying they were the hardest of her life. “I love and miss him so much, and I wish he could come back. I see signs from him every day, and I know he’s around. He can hear me and see me. I’m grateful for that.”
Carnie mentioned a special moment during the ceremony when a couple of monarch butterflies lingered at the site, which she found comforting. She shared her struggle with her emotions, saying they are often up and down. “I know he would want everyone to be happy, not sad. He didn’t like it when I cried.”
She also spoke with her friend Gunnar Nelson, who lost his father, Ricky Nelson, years ago. He reminded her that the world will always have Brian’s music to remember him by. “This thought is really special and bigger than I can grasp. I’m thankful for it because it’s true.”
Carnie concluded with a heartfelt message: “Thank you, Daddy, for your beautiful contribution to happiness and real emotions. Thank you to all the loving fans for honoring him. We share this together. God knows what we’d be without him.”
Brian Wilson passed away on June 11 at the age of 82.
