This Day in Top 40 History: April 30  

April 30 has seen many important moments in Top 40 history. On this day, Harry Styles topped the charts, while Adele and Ed Sheeran made their way up the Billboard Hot 100. Additionally, NSYNC received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Over the years, several notable hits and milestones have occurred on April 30. In 1991, Boyz II Men released their debut album, *Cooleyhighharmony*, through Motown Records. It started at No. 58 on the Billboard 200 but climbed to No. 3, spending 133 weeks on the chart. The album featured popular singles like “End of the Road” and “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday.”

In 2002, Vanessa Carlton launched her debut album, *Be Not Nobody*, which reached No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and made waves in the U.K. and Australia. She scored two Top 30 hits with “A Thousand Miles” and “Ordinary Day.”

Fast forward to 2022, Harry Styles’ “As It Was” returned to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 after three weeks. The Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves” held strong at No. 3, while The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s former No. 1 hit was at No. 6. Other notable songs included Adele’s “Easy on Me” at No. 17 and Ed Sheeran’s “Shivers” at No. 14. Morgan Wallen’s “Wasted on You” debuted at No. 7.

Celine Dion, a pop icon, also made her mark on this day. In 1988, she won the Eurovision Song Contest, launching her successful career with hits like “My Heart Will Go On.” In 2018, NSYNC celebrated their legacy with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, having sold over 30 million records in the U.S. and dominating the charts with songs like “Bye Bye Bye.”
