Things To Do in Philadelphia This Weekend: May 1-May 3

This weekend in Philadelphia is packed with exciting events. The Philadelphia Ballet is debuting a new production of “Romeo and Juliet” at the Academy of Music. The “52 Weeks of Firsts” sculpture, created by Iris Barbee Bonner, honors Philadelphia’s legacy as the birthplace of the first American-made piano and sousaphone. This free event takes place on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.

The festival, founded by singer-songwriter Dave Hause, will take place at the Venice Island Performing Arts and Recreation Center.
