The season 24 finale of American Idol took place on Monday, featuring exciting performances from Shinedown and Mötley Crüe. Shinedown teamed up with contestant Philmon Lee for a medley of their hits “Searchlight” and “Second Chance.” Although Lee was eliminated in April, he showcased his rock skills throughout the season with songs like Foreigner’s “Hot Blooded,” Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’,” and Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man,” which Shinedown has also covered.
Mötley Crüe brought the energy with their classic tracks “Home Sweet Home” and “Kickstart My Heart,” performing alongside former American Idol winner and current judge Carrie Underwood. Underwood had previously recorded “Home Sweet Home” as the farewell song for season 8.
The finale also featured contestants Jake Thistle and Jesse Findling, who joined Blues Traveler and Gin Blossoms to perform “Hook” and “Hey Jealousy,” respectively. In the end, Hannah Harper was crowned the winner of American Idol season 24.
