This Day in Top 40 History: June 13  

June 13 has been a notable day in Top 40 music history. This year, Ava Max announced she would headline a Pride festival, several popular artists made it to the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, and one group’s tour date in Phoenix, Arizona, was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over the years, June 13 has seen some significant music releases. In 1983, Donna Summer released her 11th studio album, *She Works Hard for the Money*, which peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard 200. Its hit single reached No. 3 on the Hot 100 and topped the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. In 1995, Alanis Morissette’s *Jagged Little Pill* came out, reaching No. 1 in over 10 countries and selling over 30 million copies worldwide. This album earned her multiple GRAMMYs and featured hits like “You Oughta Know.”

In 2000, B.B. King and Eric Clapton released *Riding with the King*, which dominated the Blues Albums Chart for 48 weeks and reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200.

Cultural milestones also marked this day. Rivers Cuomo, frontman of Weezer, was born in 1970. DJ Snake, known for hits with Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, was born in 1986. In 1989, Jerry Lee Lewis received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, celebrating his impact on country and rock music. Lastly, in 2017, Ariana Grande performed in Spain during her Dangerous Woman Tour, following a tragic event at her Manchester show.
