Korn is marking 30 years since their second album, Life Is Peachy, with a hot sauce, a smoothie, a merchandise capsule, and a new vinyl pressing. The album hit shelves on Oct. 15, 1996. It later earned two platinum certifications in the US, according to Chaoszine.
The band teamed up with hot sauce company Heatonist on a peach sauce called “Spice Is Peachy.” It blends peaches and serrano peppers with a sweet corn base. The company says the heat is “just-above mild,” and it suits pork, chili, or tacos.
Korn also joined with Whata Peach, a cafe chain based in Los Angeles, to make a custom smoothie named “Life Is Peachy.” The drink mixes peaches, dark chocolate, agave nectar, vanilla yogurt, and activated charcoal. Every dollar of proceeds goes to United Friends of the Children, a Los Angeles nonprofit that helps local foster youth.
This is the band’s latest sauce with Heatonist. The first, “Here to Slay,” is also open for preorder. It pays tribute to the Central Valley, the band’s home region, where Bakersfield, California, sits. The recipe uses roasted corn, serrano and jalapeno peppers, chipotle, adobo, and cumin. “Spice Is Peachy” takes that recipe and adds peaches.
The band is also on a European tour, which started Sunday in Stuttgart, Germany. Architects and Youth Code Forever open the first leg. Architects and Pixel Grip open the second.
Fans can preorder “Spice Is Peachy” on the Heatonist site. Tickets are on the band’s website.
