Moneybagg Yo Teams Up With Hitmaker Pharrell On New Track ‘Certified Neptunes’

Memphis rapper Moneybagg Yo has released his latest album A Gangsta’s Pain via N-Less Entertainment and Interscope Records. Among the album’s lengthy 22-song tracklist appears “Certified Neptunes,” a collaboration with hitmaker Pharrell.

Pharrell produced “Certified Neptunes” alongside Chad Hugo, better known as a production duo creating under the moniker The Neptunes – thus the song title’s nod to the influential pair.

In a recent interview, Pharrell expressed that Moneybagg Yo is his favorite rapper at the moment. When asked about the co-sign in an interview with Houston BMW Studios, the rapper said: “That’s a living legend. I look at it like he’s passing the torch, he’s rocking with it.”

Moneybagg Yo and Pharrell bounce off of each other on the track’s chorus where they drive home the rapper’s theme of reveling in your own success without needing to impress anyone else. “Blow the money, hustle, get it back,” he lays out in the first verse. “It’s that simple.”

Alongside the album’s release, Moneybagg Yo has shared the visual for “Shottas (Lala)” which takes him from his hometown of Tennessee to the tropical warmth of Kingston, Jamaica.

Off the 22 songs on A Gangsta’s Pain, only seven tracks see Moneybagg Yo teaming up with featured artists. Atlanta rapper Future appears on one of the album’s earlier singles, “Hard For The Next,” while Jhené Aiko is featured on the new track “One Of Dem Nights.” Polo G and Lil Durk join the party on “Free Promo” and BIG30 makes an appearance on “GO!” Dallas singer and songwriter Kaash Paige is featured on the album’s opener “Memphganistan.”

A Gangsta’s Pain lead single “Time Today” was recently certified gold by the RIAA and reached the top 40 of Billboard’s Hot 100.

Moneybagg Yo is gearing up to make his national television debut on Monday, April 26 when he’ll appear on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform music from the new album.
