Scorpions Release Hard-Hitting New Song, ‘Peacemaker’

German hard rockers the Scorpions have been together for more than 50 years, and they’re showing no signs of slowing down, as the band just released a new single. The track, called “Peacemaker,” will arrive on Scorpions’ upcoming 19th album, Rock Believer, which drops Feb. 25. Listen to the new song below.

The song has lots to appeal to classic Scorpions fans, with a deep, relentless groove and strong guitar riffs. It also features a keen melodic hook, which served as the genesis of the song.

“The first thing that came to my mind was the hook line,” Klaus Meine said in a statement. “Peacemaker, peacemaker / Bury the undertaker.’ I was just playing around with those words. At a time when so many people have died and are still dying of COVID, from devastating wars and other senseless crimes, it makes you feel that the undertaker must be working overtime. In a peaceful world after the pandemic, it will be time for the peacemaker to rule… that’s an image that really appeals to me.”

Scorpions recorded most of Rock Believer at Peppermint Park Studios in Hanover, Germany, with engineer Hans-Martin Buff. The album will mark Scorpions’ first album to include former Motörhead drummer Mikkey Dee, who became a member of the band in 2016 following the death of Lemmy Kilmister. Rock Believer is also Scorpions’ follow-up to 2015’s Return to Forever.

In addition to the new music, Scorpions have a 2022 world tour on tap. The run kicks off March 26th with a multi-night residency at Las Vegas’ Zappos Theater. Mammoth WVH will serve as support on select stops.
