If your mood feels brighter, it might be because The Temper Trap is back. The Australian band behind the late‑2000s hit “Sweet Disposition” has released Sungazer, their first full album in 10 years.
Lead singer Dougy Mandagi says he needed time away to find the right headspace. “I instigated this little hiatus,” he says. “I needed that time to rediscover myself as a creative person.”
Sungazer mixes familiar moments with new sounds. The single “Giving Up Air” has a bit of that “Sweet Disposition” vibe. Other tracks surprise — listen for the electronic outro on “Lifeline.” Mandagi says the long break freed the band from expectations. They could try new sounds, synths, and vocal effects without pressure.
Sungazer is out now. The Temper Trap are touring North America with Muse. And fans won’t have to wait another decade for new music. “I’ve already started working on new stuff,” Mandagi says.
