Dexter Holland, the frontman of The Offspring, recently gave a commencement speech to graduates at USC’s Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. Holland, a proud Triple Trojan, holds three degrees from USC: a bachelor’s in biological sciences from 1988, a master’s in molecular biology from 1990, and a Ph.D. in molecular biology from 2017.
In his speech, he encouraged the graduates to pursue lives filled with excitement and authenticity. “I hope that throughout your life, you achieve things so cool and so legit that you, too, like me, stop and wonder whether this is really happening,” he said. He emphasized the importance of choosing a life that reflects their true selves.
This isn’t Holland’s first time speaking at a USC graduation; he previously addressed students at the Keck School of Medicine in 2022. Meanwhile, The Offspring has announced two concerts in Quebec this August, where they will focus on their classic hits and deep cuts.
