Rise Against to Release 10th Studio Album ‘Ricochet’ This August

RISE AGAINST, the punk band from Chicago, is set to release their new album, *Ricochet*, on August 15 through Loma Vista Recordings. This marks their tenth record, featuring 12 tracks that blend Western sounds with raw punk energy, focusing on themes of power and social change.

The band explains, “When basic human compassion is tossed aside, and those in power begin to twist and abuse the trust of the people they swore to serve; we will Rise Against.” The opening track, “Nod,” kicks off with powerful group shouts and sharp guitar riffs. Following that is “I Want It All,” which draws from classic rock influences. The title track, “Ricochet,” mixes twangy acoustic elements with harsh, machine-like sounds.

Frontman Tim McIlrath leads the band, with Joe Principe on bass, Brandon Barnes on drums, and Zach Blair on guitar. A highlight of the album is “Black Crown,” featuring vocals from Andy Hull of Manchester Orchestra. The song stands out with its emotional depth. “Damage Is Done” brings a nostalgic vibe, reminiscent of the band’s earlier work.

Taking a different approach, “Gold Long Gone” showcases an acoustic guitar, similar to past hits like “Swing Life Away” and “Hero of War.” This track reflects on how things continue to worsen. “State of Emergency” calls for unity with its big crowd chants, urging listeners to stay human in tough times. “Us Against The World” is a classic RISE AGAINST anthem, and the album wraps up with “Prizefighter.”

The mixing by Alan Moulder pushes the band into new territory, with thundering drums and a darker sound. *Ricochet* has received an 8/10 rating from Wall of Sound AU. This release marks 25 years since RISE AGAINST first burst onto the scene.
