Philadelphia’s Memorial Day weekend is packed with fun and history, celebrating 150 years since the first World’s Fair on American soil. The festivities kick off with a free event at the original fairgrounds, honoring the 1876 Centennial Exposition. Visual artist Janice Kim has created a special sculpture that highlights groundbreaking inventions from that era, like the typewriter and telephone, showcasing America’s spirit of innovation.
Parks on Tap will also be in West Philadelphia’s Clark Park from May 20 to May 25. This traveling beer garden offers a great spot to relax with friends, featuring over 300 trees, a playground, and plenty of open space. Admission is free, but food and drinks will be available for purchase.
Comedian James “Murr” Murray, known from the hit show “Impractical Jokers,” will perform at Helium Comedy Club on May 22 and 23. His show combines stand-up comedy with audience interaction, sharing personal stories and exclusive clips from the show. Tickets range from $38.99 to $194.99 for couples.
Other weekend activities include cheering on the Phillies, dancing, and even DIY candle-making while sipping rosĂ©. Whether you’re into comedy, history, or just having a good time, Philadelphia has something for everyone this Memorial Day weekend.
