Rush Performs ‘A Farewell to Kings’ for the First Time in Nearly 50 Years During Final Los Angeles Concert

Rush wrapped up their four-night run at the KIA Forum in Los Angeles on Saturday with a special surprise for fans. They played “A Farewell to Kings” for the first time in nearly 50 years. This classic track from their 1977 album had not been performed live since 1979.

The band also treated the audience to all seven parts of “2112.” They played “The Pass” from the Presto album for the first time since 2013 and “The Anarchist” from Clockwork Angels for the first time since 2015.

In an Instagram post, Rush expressed their gratitude, saying, “Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making this week so amazing! For embracing Anika and Loren so profoundly.” They thanked drummer Anika Nilles and keyboardist Loren Gold, as well as Aimee Mann for joining them each night to perform “Time Stand Still,” a tribute to their late drummer Neil Peart.

This tour, called Fifty Something, is Rush’s first since 2015’s R40 Live and their first since Peart’s passing in 2020. Next, they will head to Mexico City for two shows on June 18 and 20. For a full list of tour dates, fans can check Rush.com.
