Black Veil Brides has released a new song called “Vindicate,” which is also the title track of their latest album. The name might remind some fans of Dashboard Confessional’s “Vindicated,” but the two songs have very different vibes. Black Veil’s biggest hit, “In the End,” shares its name with a famous Linkin Park song. While Linkin Park’s “In the End” is known for its sad tone, Biersack believes Black Veil’s version is more uplifting and positive.
In Dashboard’s “Vindicated,” Chris Carrabba sings about self-discovery, which contrasts with Biersack’s more intense declaration in “Vindicate”: “I’ll f vindicate my life/ And bury what’s left of you.” Biersack didn’t choose the word “Vindicate” with Dashboard in mind. Instead, he wanted to explore the idea of revenge and its nuances. He explains that revenge is about getting back at someone, while his song focuses on proving people wrong.
Biersack notes that while the album touches on themes of revenge, it’s really about personal victory rather than just winning overall. The album “VINDICATE” is out now, so fans can check it out and see how these themes play out in the music.
